Riley couldn’t help but smile as well. She wasn’t usually presented with the opportunity to help other people, probably given the fact that she made her money tricking them. But nevertheless, it was nice. The look of absolute relief on Sabrina’s face made it all worth it. “It’s no problem, really,” she said, taking Sabrina’s hand. “I’m just glad I could help out.”
It took her a minute to realize that she hadn’t yet given her own name. “Oh, right. I’m Riley. It’s a pleasure to meet you, Sabrina.”
“Pleasure to meet you, Riley,” Sabrina grinned. “Sorry you had to give up your table in there…” She trailed off as she glanced back at the coffee shop, which seemed fairly full. Feeling as though she should make it up to the girl somehow, Sabrina smiled politely and took out her wallet. “I have a gift card in here somewhere… It’s only ten dollars, but really, I think you should have it.” After a few moments of digging, she was able to fish out her gift card and hold it up to Riley. “There we are. Oh… fifteen dollars, actually. Bit better.”

“I have not heard of him. You know if he’s that bad you can just go find a new magician to assist.”
“Take a vacation go to Paris, something that benefits you.”
“Which is exactly what I plan on doing. You know of any who are looking for an assistant? I’ve got one hell of a record, at least assistant wise.”

“Paris would be brilliant, but it’s a bit out of my price range. I appreciate the suggestion, though.”

As Riley ran, she managed to shove her papers into her back pocket. They’d be crumpled up later, but she didn’t really mind. Most of the stuff she managed to come up with wasn’t that great anyways, at least not by her standards. When the woman stopped to turn around, an instant rush of relief swept over Riley. She was worried that she wouldn’t be able to catch up.
“You left it on the table,” Riley answered with an apologetic shrug once the woman realized the she had been missing her phone. “Here.” She held the phone out her to take.
Sabrina smiled brightly at the women, feeling as though her mouth might fall off if sh grinned any wider. “Oh, thank you, thank you!! God, thank you,” she knew she was rambling, but her phone had become her entire life recently, and even the thought of losing it gave her a ridiculous feeling of discomfort. “You’re an absolute life saver, really,” she said, almost hugging the girl, but stopping when she remembered she was a stranger. At that moment, she remembered to check her watch, noticing she had already missed the time frame that would have been worth trying to get there. Oh, well, she figured it wasn’t too much of a loss. “I’m Sabrina, by the way,” she said, reaching out a hand to offer the woman. “Thanks again.”
“Hm, I’m sure he can’t be that bad.”
“Just keep the trap door open all the time?”
“You should try watching one of our shows. Trainwreck. Have you ever heard of the Marvelous Malcolm?”

“I suppose that would be the best option. Though it is fairly tiresome.”

Riley was sitting at a table in Starbucks, listening to some music as she tried to figure out what her next new trick would be. She’d been using the same material over and over again, and it was time for a change. During a song change, she looked up to see a woman stand up from another table and leave. At first, Riley thought nothing of it, but then she noticed the unattended cell phone on the table. It must have been hers. As quickly as possible, Riley gathered the papers she was working on and grabbed the phone. She ran out of the Starbucks and desperately looked around for the woman. Spotting her fairly quickly, Riley ran after her. “Hey! Hey miss!”
Sabrina sighed softly, stirring her coffee with a sort of dreamy expression. Glancing at her watch, she seemed to snap out of her stupor, realizing that she had rehearsal in a few minutes. It was a fifteen minute walk from here, and she highly doubted she could run it when in heels. Being in such a rush, she hardly noticed as she left her phone on the table. As she was a few feet away from Starbucks, she heard someone yelling after her. Instinctively, she turned to face the voice, finding herself staring at a woman with a desperate look on her face. As she continued to look at her, she finally realized that it was her she had been calling out for. “Oh!” She did her best to run over, but her steps were obviously very cautious and much slower than those of a passerby. “Sorry, did you need something? I’m in a bit of a rush, so if you wouldn’t mind, I could just give you my contact info… I’m assuming you recognize me from the- the-” As she patted her pocket for her business card, she noticed the peculiar lack of phone. “Shit, my phone,” she muttered, looking up at the stranger.

“Terrible? How so?”
“He barely ever gets the tricks right. I understand a few mistakes here and there, but… really, it’s just embarrassing. And I’m a bit worried he’ll try sawing me in half sometime soon.”

“I think it might be about time to search for a new assistant job… The guy I’m with now is a bit… How do I say this nicely? Terrible?”

“I’m waiting patiently for something interesting to happen, but so far, I’ve been rather disappointed.”
